I love food, I love everything about, reading about it, eating it, researching it, discussing it, making it. I have loved food for as long as I can remember. As a kid I would wake up to the smell of freshly baked bread that my Dad would make early in the morning on the weekends or sausages being smoked in the fireplace. There was nothing average about food in our house when I was growing up, there was always a couple of pots bubbling away on the stove and the smell drifting through the house. Both my parents cooked exceptionally well so we had a variety of cuisine to enjoy along with a lot of traditional Sri Lankan food so that we didn’t lose our cultural food identity.
So even when things go wrong, after I sob into the bowl like a 4-year-old I have to understand why it went wrong and work out what I did so that it doesn’t happen again. I’m quite traditional in my cooking and baking style but I have added a few twists here and there, usually in the form of spicing things up a bit!
I hope this blog will show you that cooking doesn’t need to be a long drawn out affair, it can be quick and enjoyable. Take risks, screw it up but above all try! Recipes found here are a mix of my own and those I love by other chefs and home cooks. All credits appear at the bottom of the post or weekly menu.
